I think that that figure of 200.000.000 was a bit on the low side. Perhaps it was mentioned by Gates his opponents ?
The thing is that whereas say Ted 'CNN' Turner donated 1.000.000.000 to Unicef last year, Bill Gates has set up a charity/welfare-foundation(I think run by his wife and some independents). He financed this foundation and it currently has a capital of some 50.000.000.000 dollars... Which is still only about 5 percent of his capital btw.
The thing is that Gates did not wish to use this organisation for PR-purposes so he kept reasonably quiet about it until other financial moguls started to accuse him of 'Scrooginess'...
I don't like Microsoft at all(I don't really have an opinion about Gates, I don't know the guy). But credit where credit's due...
