There was once an old earth joke relating to these devices: How do you make a computer smile? By tickling it's floppies... This joke has (thankfully) died out along with the use of floppy disks as a useful means of transferring information from one computer to another.

This is was a useful device but is now, sadly, an anacronism. The floppy disk died out well before the 3.5" disks came along, along with the BBCB computers for schools

Nah, 3.5" disks are floppy. Lots of people don't think so, because they don't bend like those old big ones, but they're called that because the inner bit is floppy plastic.
