Most of what you say is on the right track. Of course there isn't a 13th sign for rather obvious reasons. i.e. 12 is the number of divine manifestation, there are 4 elements (fire, earth, air, water) and 3 modes of manifestation of the elements (fixed, cardinal, mutable).
No amount of scientific tinkering can make 3 x 4 = 13.
Keep up the good work. The argument is currently raging on the Weird Science board on BBC1 although 10 scientists v 1 astrologer is a little unfair to my mind!
