So, having only recently been on the subbing end of this whole process, how do writers find out who is subbing their entries? Is there any way we can find out, other than them popping by our pages?

I'd love to know. smiley - smileysmiley - cheers

Yeah, if they pop over to the ComingUp page, they can see the new A-number for their recommended article, and if it's been passed on to a sub-editor they'll see the subeditor's name alongside theirs on the article when they click it.

Hope that helps!

That's true for Pending articles, but Recommended articles don't show up on ComingUp - to stop the authors from easily finding them! smiley - winkeye

1. You can do an advanced search for Recommended articles only, putting part of the entry's title in the search box. However, the index is updated only once a day so it'll almost certainly be at least a day before you can find it using this method.

2. You can look at the drop-down list of Subeditors and check each of their personal spaces individually

3. Using <./>RandomRecommendedEntry</.>, you can keep refreshing until you find the article

Rho, my article "Music Sharing" appeared on the ComingUp page the minute it arrived with its SubEditor (I know because I live with her!) and stayed on that page till the day it was included in the Edited Guide!

That's true - it appears on the list - but the article linked to is the original article, not the Recommended copy of the article that will later be Edited. Once it reaches the 'Returned from Sub-editor' stage, the Pending version of the article is linked to, however. smiley - smiley

For example, A978447 is linked to but the Recommended form, A988806, is not. Once the subeditor returns A978447, its status will change to Pending and ComingUp will instead link to A988806.

You live with the sub-editor? Is that allowed? Isn't there a conflict of interests or something? smiley - winkeye

Whoami - iD dislikes punctuation

smiley - winkeye Of course, some Subs can in fact be bothered to contact you, which is, IMHO, always preferable. That's why I try to be bothered... smiley - smileysmiley - cake

I'm getting married to the sub-editor! smiley - biggrin

It was very bizarre that the first article Nitina received in her first batch of entries to sub was my first entry, "Music Sharing".

And there isn't a conflict of interests because we're both English-language pedants! smiley - winkeye (I'm planning on becoming a SubEd at some point...)
