And other stuff I'm into
Okay, I have lots of interests and other stuff I'm into, as does everyone else, so this will be a long list, but since I don't know how to make internal scroll links, you'll just have to scroll down on your own.
So the basic breakdown is:
Music
Movies and television
Reading and writing
Music

*****
Okay, now that we're on the same page, ...wait. For the purpose of this page, we'll be using noun form two. Okay, NOW that we're on the same page, Yes. I like punk rock.
I don't really look like a typical punk rocker, but nobody else really does either, anymore, so deal with it.
Bands I like: (in no particular order with exception of the first one. I love Social D!)
- Social Distortion
- The Ramones
- The Dead Kennedys
- The Dead Boys
- The Queers
- The Minutemen
- Screeching Weasel
- The Decendents
- The Circle Jerks
- The Sex Pistols
- The Buzzcocks
- The Misfits
- Rancid / Operation Ivy
- Fugazi / Minor Threat
- The Soviettes
- NOFX
- The Offspring
- Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
- Guttermouth
- Pennywise
- The Clash
- Dropkick Murphys
- Floggin Molly
Bands I don't like, because contrary to popular belief, they are not punk rock:
- Good Charlotte
- My Chemical Romance
- Green Day
- Avril Lavigne
Nerd Rock
Yeah, Nerd rock. Bands that sing about nerdy stuff, or just have a nerd vibe about them. Don't pretend you don't know. You got this far, your cover is blown!
- The Epoxies
- The Aquabats
- The Phenomenauts
- The Lillingtons
- The Dead Milkmen
- They Might Be Giants
- DEVO
Local Music
Bands from in and around Seattle that I currently enjoy paying very little money to go see, but fear that someday, they'll make it big, like the recent success of Modest Mouse, and then I'll never be able to afford to go see them again. I miss Modest Mouse.
I'm gonna miss these bands, too:
- Schoolyard Heroes - Nerd
- Bloodhag - Nerd
- The Insurgence - punk
- Mountain Con - alt
- Razrez - alt
- Mon Frere - alt
- Vendetta Red - alt
- The Gruff Mummies - alt
- The Dandy Warhols - alt from Portland Oregon, and they're pretty bigtime, but in a cult way, so they count as a local band
- The Decemberists - same as the DW's, really
Other stuff
Bands that I listen to, but because I'm a gutterpunk, will probably deny all knowledge of.
But don't let that stop you from checking them out:
- The Magnetic Fields
- Belle and Sebastian
- The Eels
- Audioslave
- Queen
- Muse
- Alkaline Trio - kindof a punk band, but these three bands, Queen, Muse, and AT, have what I consider to be the three finest lead singers of all time, as far as voice is concerned. Just sayin'.
- Darren Hanlon
- Meatloaf - His name is Robert Paulson
- Live - Their lead singer, Edward Kowalczyk, was actually the waiter in the restaurant towards the end of the movie Fight Club. Yea!
- Bob Dylan
- Elvis Costello
- Billy Joel
- Sheryl Crow
Movies and television
Television
I watch the History channel. And were it not for the info-mercials they play from like, 2-6 AM, I'd just watch it all the time.
And were it not for these shows, as well:
- The Venture Brothers
- The Daily Show
- The Simpsons
- News Radio
- Sports Night
- MXC - Most Extreme Elimination Challenge
- The O'Reilly Factor
Unless there's something good on the History Channel. Then, I'll skip meals if I have to.
Junkie.
Movies
I like movies. Especially Fight Club. And Dr. Strangelove: or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
Those are my two favorite movies, both excellent examples of dark humor.
I like most science fiction, generally the cheaper, the better. Not too big on flashy special effects. But if it is written well, I like that.
Such as:
- Pi
- Primer
- Alien
- Twelve Monkeys
And speaking of well written, I will watch any movie that has anything to do with either:
Charlie Kaufman
- Being John Malkovich
- Human Nature
- Adaptation
- Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Or Wes Anderson
- Bottlerocket
- Rushmore
- The Royal Tenenbaums
- The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Moving on, I am NOT a fan of either horror movies (vivid imagination and prone to nightmares) or comedies (they're just not funny )
Well, I do like some, I guess, because I really liked The Ring, and there are some comedies I will tolerate. Especially fish out of water comedies like:
- Mystery Men
- Dodgeball
- Clue
- Ghostbusters - and for that matter, pretty much anything with Bill Murray in it
And Porn.
