Currently under investigation because of its potency (methinks drug manufacturers are worried it'll put them out of a lucrative business, although making money out of other peoples misery is not a new thing is it?), this is a valuable and increasingly popular herbal treatment for depression. Doubt is placed over what is a safe concentration as tablets, capsules and extract vary in strength. I recommend the tea, as the mere fact of taking time out to drink it is in itself quite therapeutic (after all, in Japan tea drinking is considered good for meditation and well-being), and it is also self-regulated if you use loose leaf. If you start out with tea-bags (available at health food shops), its a good introduction. They are in a cheerful yellow box!
