Any Slackware buffs here?

CptAjb - Moving stranger, does it really matter? As long as you're not afraid to feel

I am no buff on Slackware, but I do have version 10.0 and sometimes run into things which don't go down too well with me.

Such as?
I've not used slackware at all so don't know much about its personality and foibles but am interested in hearing more.

Things like: If I do a ps -ax I see that there are two instances of DHCP-clients running (I am at my work now so the exact name eludes me now). I have only one connection to my ISP so I expect only one. They have the exact same name, exactly the same parameters and I know for sure that I only activate this once (or rather, I set up things so that it should only start one).

I found a tool (script more like) which is supposed to scan the net for updates of installed programs (again: the name has escaped my for now); my question is: what are the pro's and con's of this tool.

I also have less Slackware-bound questions about IPTABLES, but I am currently collecting and gathering documentation regarding firewall rules and IPTABLES so I might be able to answer my questions myself (and that is one thing I'd like to do).
