I have a conexant HSF modem and the net is telling me my only options are a free but crippled driver or a pay-for full 56k driver.
Here's the catch. I tried a magazine cover disk copy of Xander OS and was able to use my moden without the hint of a problem because I was able to select generic software modem.
Does anyone have any idea as you how I could achieve this with my Mandrake 10.0 distro?
Asking here is my last chance

You can all stop looking now. It's compiled and running and I'm posting from Epiphany 1.0.7

Glad you have it sorted. I've always used a simple external modem hooked to the serial port to give me access and it works, still even in this day and age

I used to have a 100% hardware internal modem but my new 'puter doesn't have an ISA slot.
