Everyone has to start somewhere - and this is where the master storyteller Terry Pratchett started. Before there was a Discworld, before humorous fantasy had turned into something close to a factory-produced art form, there was the Carpet and the myriad people and creatures who dwelt upon it. This entry covers the land, the creatures, the people and the places - as well as a taster of the story itself.

Sorry - forgot to mention that this is a work in progress. Still need to finish the bit about the story and the main characters.

So finish it! Just don't give it all away, eh!! I already read the story, but other people haven't!
Anyways the entry is well written (so far), just make sure you don't make it more interesting than the book, OK!!!

hmm.
I think you spoil the story (and the humour) too much already... I'd go for stating the plot in realy simple terms (read the cover-blurb for an idea of the sort of detail I'm thinking of).
Then you might add date of (re)publish, perhaps something about the current going price for an original copy. Perhaps a realy quick discussion of how the book differs from his other words?
Obviously a link to ther guide entry on the discworld is essential
The pillowcase is right - you write well - but you'll spoil it for those who've not read it at this rate!

I've added a Spoiler Free Overview and a note at the end that, for anyone who hasn't read the book, the remainder of the entry is a spoiler. Hope that's a fair middle ground to take - and I'm going to add something similar to my previous entries re. movies.

I knew there was something wrong....
You got the Dummii and the Deftmines the wrong way round. . The Deftmene are the short people who attack first, ask questions never. And the Dummii are the ones who tax, and attack in a tic, toc, tic toc way. Well its that in my book... IU have to say I luv the article though. Are there anymore of Terry Pratchet stuff in the guide?

Whoops... thanks for that nudge in the right direction.
The only other entry on Pratchett that I'm aware of is for the Discworld books.

Where is the diskworld one?

If you go to the Carpet People entry and find the first instance of Terry Pratchett's name... that's a link to it. The Discworld entry is a short overview of the whole series. Very short.

I've had a look at the article, and have suggested it to the Scouts for editing. I'll let you know as and when the situation develops.

I guess I should try to concentrate on getting it finished then!

You certainly should - I've had confirmation that this entry will (one day) become an edited entry. It shouldn't be long before it gets into the subbing process, so you'd better get working! Anyway, congratulations. Any thoughts about doing entries on Pterry's other 'lesser known' works?

I read Strata and the Dark Side of the Sun a while back... maybe a refresh is in order. And then, of course, there's the Unadulterated Cat. Is this one of those instances where it might be worth me registering the fact that I've assigned myself a bunch of entries to do - like through the Guide University of Life or whatever?

I don't know. Just so long as you keep writing, and the articles are of the same high standard as this one, I'll be happy!

Thanks... very kind. I will certainly try my best to continue. Mind, the wife thinks that I'd be better off writing for something that pays by the word!

Perhaps. But where else can your work be seen by millions of people?
