How many men were lost?
Nine men, lost in the mountains, had food for five days. Next day they met other lost men without food, and it was found that the food divided among the entire company would last for three days only.
How many lost men were without food in the second party?

The answer was three puzzler

When the first party of men met the second party they had used one days food, and the remainder would have lasted them four days more, but as the addition to the party curtailed the period by one day, the new men must have eaten as much in 3 days as the 9 men ate in one day. But 3 men would eat as much in 3 days as 9 men eat in 1 day. So therefore there was 3 men in the second party..

I think it's gilet, being the product of wool , all the others being mere materials ( lawn included)

How do you make a strip of paper into a single continuous surface?

That'll be the Mobius strip, where you twist it (an odd number of times) and stick the ends together as a twisted loop.

Did you ever try those clever things where you cut a mobius strip lengthways and get linked rings and single large rings? It's one of the best ways I know to amuse kids. You get them to make the strips and then they have to guess what happens before they cut them up.
