Do you work on Saturdays? If so, my most awkward part of the trip is likely to be the Edinburgh-Manchester(ish) section - I have nobody to meet in between at the moment, so any distance you could get me along that road would be a massive help.

Mind you, if I was going from Edinburgh to Manchester, I wouldn't start at Edinburgh

That is a good point 
This is incredibly generous of you. It makes a hell of a difference to me - If I can be meeting people in the north-west on Saturday lunchtime, I suddenly have time to play with in the afternoon. The time I'd save by not having to wait for lifts would basically give me another town or two I could visit somewhere
