I was travelling down from Calais in France to Switzerland for my holiday on the day of the eclipse, so my family and I stopped in a car park/picnic area off of the motorway, near Reims, to watch. It was quite cloudy, but the Sun occasionally broke through. As it started, the darkness came. It was quite slow to start with, but then speeded up as the period of total eclipse came. All the people gathered to watch fell silent. It was very eerie, standing in thew shadow of the moon. The light came back very quickly after the eclipse had passed. It was definitely something to remember.
