Aphids cant stand tobacco juice. If you know anyone that smokes ask them to collect the but-ends of cigaretes. Boil them for about an hour and then strain the water off and when it cools, spray it on the roses. Will kill not only aphids but other rose-damaging creatures will move off too.

That sounds disgusting 
I can't imagine having butt ends boiling anywhere near my kitchen.
As a bit of trivia for you. Theres a pest called tobacco whitefly, its like the common white fly and does the same damage.
Also, people that smoke and handle plants, can actually cause tender plants to get blight. Its something to do with the niccotine on thier fingers. Mostly it affects tomatoes.
