A Conversation for The Oboe
The Oboe

Just to give you all a brief respite from the deep soul-searching topics, here's a very innocuos piece on the Oboe.

I'd welcome any feedback.

Elly, as I said before, this is a wonderful article. When it becomes an edited entry, someone will change it into GuideML, which will have the effect of making all the headings stand out. You don't have to do this, unless you want to.
One or two possible changes:
The line at the end "As an added benefit, the basic notes are the same (this is true also for the flute, but not for the clarinet)." This is not really right. The recorder is as close to the clarinet fingering as it is to the flute, so maybe you should just omit this line.
I think you should add something about how much a beginner's oboe costs in your "How to start learning" section.
One grammar point. When saying "belonging to Brahms" you say Brahms'. I don't know if this is correct. I think it should be Brahms's. But whether it is right or wrong, it looks odd, so it would be better to rephrase some of your sentences to avoid it, particularly the one: However, a few noteworthy concerti include Richard Strauss', and Vaughan Williams'. You could reword this as: However, a few noteworthy concerti include those of Richard Strauss and Vaughan Williams.
Spelling: is the correct spelling oboist or oboeist?
Finally, I think you should say something about the fact that oboeists look they're smilling all the time.

Hi there - thanks for your comments. I've added in more about learning and buying beginners' instruments.
On the Clarinet fingering point, what I meant was that the basic notes come out in a different key. E,g, three fingers and the thumb of the right hand down on the oboe, recorder and flute is the G above middle C, whereas on the Bflat clarinet it's (I think) middle C. But it probably was confusing, so I took it out.
Right about oboeist/oboist...

But the treble recorder (alto) is the same as the clarinet: Thumb plus three fingers of left hand = Middle C.
It is important that the article be written in the third person. You should eliminate the words "I" and "me". There are one or two places where they are used: (I would say proper) can become (even proper). When talking about the spider's web, you can say "one player" or even "the author of this Entry".
Some spelling mistakes:
Beethovens' should be Beethoven's
english should be English
saxaphone should be saxophone
Good Work!
