>>and soon came on the winning formula of performing little-known works. Some of these were by unknown composers, others were lesser-known works of well-known composers. <<
Sounds just like our 'Stadtschreiber Preis', which is awarded once a year (first weekend in September) to authors who usually aren't well known - they often are well known afterwards, though. I went to a reading of one of these authors (2004/2005's winner) last night. I had completely 'missed' him when he was Stadtschreiber, so I had no idea what to expect. Turned out it was some sort of lyrical novel he read from - not really my cup of .
It seemed to consist of either a lot of complicated words, or a lot of adjectives strung together, I had difficulties to follow it.
The audience was remarkably quiet, so I guess half of them fell asleep.

Well, you win some, you lose some. Some years the opera we go to is little known because it is not very good. There's usually some fatal flaw in them which prevents them becoming classics. But there is always something good in them.

I don't go regularly, but this was the first one I thought I could have done without. Still, like you say, you win some, you lose some. So far, I've been lucky and always enjoyed the readings.

You should add the Post Team U54963 to your friends list, then you'd be subscribed to the journals.
Plus Rich did add the following line to some of the pages containg graphics:
>>Unfortunately, for reasons beyond the Post Team's control, publication of this column has been delayed until the evening of 6th November.<<
Key: Complain about this post
