Where do you get the inspiration to write something new at h2g2? Share any tips and tricks that help you, or let me know where you get your great ideas from.

I try to write entries on places I've been to or know about which haven't yet been covered, and my interests....

I like to do entries on places I've been to - like the Great Cross of Christ and Fabrizzi's Restaurant. We visited those spots on a recent family vacation and - boom - now they're Edited Guide Entries.
All you need to do is pay attention to your surroundings and take a few notes and you should be able to write a good entry about nearly anyplace!
Plus, I agree with Joanna, writing about things you know like her astronomy stuff is always a good bet.

It seems silly, but since I always am looking for pens and paper when I don't have them, I've taken to having a small notebook in my bag, which is among other things (like shopping lists and problem numbers) useful for jotting down impressions which turn into entries, as witness my entry on the Trafford Centre

LOL!
As an old newspaper man, I've always got a pad and pen nearby. My wife calls them my security blankets.

ok try this:
Well of course its logical to want to have pen and paper available at all times. They're just so handy... writing guide entries, i dunno, writing down registration plates of the car that ran into you.....

I think Joanna and Jimi X both have given some very good suggestions. I think it also helps to have people egging you on to write about things. Groups of writers are formed at the University sometimes, and sometimes joining one of the community groups at h2g2 will put you in touch with people who have similar interests.

Excellent point!
A lot of my favourite Guide entries are collaborative ones. We did a big old thing for Halloween last year, with collections of spooky real-life stories from Researchers as well as a separate entry on the origins of the holiday.
And of course, there's the Driving Etiquette entry! Great stuff.
Collaborating is a great way to add to the Guide!
