Hee Amusing I liked it. It shouldn't have a problem with becoming an Edited Guide Entry, the Guide seems to almost specialise in these fantastically detailed Entries on lifes little oddities Hee Until later....

I think Crescent knows what I'm about to say....
Anyway, I think this is a great entry - shouldn't have any problems

Not necessarily the most unbiased judge - but I enjoyed it - a valuable contribution to the guiding principle of total trivia.
(and such inventiveness in one so young )

These items are sometimes known as "fingerettes", or just "thumbs", leading to the wonderful question, "Has anyone seen my thumb anywhere?".

I used to temp in a merchant bank and spent a large amount of my time searching in boxes of *thousands* of currency deals for just *one*.
The rubber thimble was my friend, and I think I tried all of the activities (along with cursing the process of evolution for bringing us down from the trees for me to do that thankless job) apart from flicking it.
Maybe that's why I don't understand the description of flicking the thimble..should my right *thumb* be involved? Or my *left* hand? Rubber thimbles feature less in my life now, but this made me feel a little nostalgia for my unhygienic friend (we had to share the thimbles...eww!)
Fab! Made me laugh...
This should be in the Guide NOW! (I reckon).

I couldn't agree more and if nobody has any objections I'll do just that and recommend it as my recommended Guide Entry. Any objections?

Thanks Guys - I've been off work for a couple of days, and I come back to find all these nice things!
I will re-check the left/right thing...see if I can make anymore sense from it...

No worries. Had I a physical form in the forum, I'd gladly do so. Sadly, I'm just another ghost in the machine, so no hand holding is possible. But, I'll think calming and comforting thoughts and send em' yer way.

I know how you feel, I was having a hard time dealing with it when two of my own entries were up for consideration. Of course I had a party when they were accepted. Now, I have to do a rewrite on my third entry, because I wrote a little TOO verbatim from the sources I read. It happens to me all the time, I have a near eiditic memory for written word, so when I'm writting I can never be positive it's not my own words and not something I've read somewhere before. Ah well, these are the things that keep life interesting! So what's your next topic going to be about?

I'm toying with a big budget one on 'Sherlock Holmes' or a rather more frivolous 'How to Sleep Together'. SH is certainly going to involve source material, but as 'Rubber Thimbles' was straight about of my fetid imagination I don't need to be paranoid: like yourself, I'm an unconscious quoter - bummer isn't it?

Thanks Mark: I've been looking forward to Shadow posting me my first ever tie-off note, but I guess he must be on Retreat...
