I'm not familiar with Spock's Beard, so I have a silly question. Where did the name come from? Is the band named after Spock from Star Trek? And if so, why the beard when Spock didn't have one?

That is actually quite interesting. The band tried to come up with a name that had anything remotely "prog rockish" theme over it, and couldn't decide on one. The name "Spock's Beard" came up because of one Star Trek episode one of the band members (I believe it was Al) had seen where Spock wore, yup thats right, a beard. Cannot remember the episode, but they all thought it was real neat and stuck to it. The name has absolutely nothing to do with their style, as they are a prog rock band with a very classical 70s sound, only refined and modernized for the 90s and 00s.

Ah. That is a very interesting story, and a bit telling about the band. Why not stick it in the entry?
