They used to have them at Chimp tea parties in the zoo.

Come to think of it I've never actually saw one beingf eaten and technically a chimp is a ape but there you go.

I ate a banana this morning. Unfortunately, I didn't think to time myself. That wouldn't have helped answer the question, though.
