This has been waiting to be picked for about 5 weeks 
is there something wrong with it, or something else I need to do to it?

No there's nothing wrong with it, there's just been a lot of good things in PR recently and a lot of scouts aren't making their picks due to holidays, work etc...as you well know! 
However never fear...I'm watching you!

Kat, there was some confusion over whether or not Rewrites get picked, weren't sure if it was something to do with that.

I'm just about to accept this - panic not if you get a 'we've rejected this entry' email. That's just the new way we do updates in order to ensure that they get a day on the front page again.

The author never gets a reject letter if their entry hasn't been picked. Only their panicky scout does. At least that's what's happened with the update entries I've picked so far

Paully, I have a question, don't I always
In the recommended copy A71641 a strange name; 'Slacker' U168521 (who's not posted since Sept 2001, and as far as I could see, was not on the original Entry) has appeared in the 'Written and Researched by:' section...why is their name there?

(Let me know if you get a repluy from Paully coz I recently had an updated Entry get into the EG, and that also had a strange name on it. Can confirm what Kat said - I didn't get the 'reject' letter I was threatened with.

Now that's very odd indeed, but I do have an explanation! The last time we did this new replacement method of updating, a random new author appeared too. What you'll find is that the new, random person is (I believe) the sub-editor on the entry during its first journey through peer review and onto the homepage. With this new method of updating, there won't be a new Sub-Editor - we have to do that in-house ourselves. So the original sub gets a co-writer credit and h2g2 Editors are credited at subbing the new entry.
Until the new method of crediting entries is introduced (shortly, hopefully - watch for announcements!), we thought that this would be the best way of ensuring everyone gets a credit. And I wasn't 100% sure if the authors got the rejection message - now I know, I'll reword the posting I put onto the Peer Review thread (which I have to do in order to quickly find the entry in the big list on the Peer Review page and then remove it).
