I'm surprised to see this make the UG tho it seems an aura of silence surrounds it - my words spring from a feeling of sympathy for men who have strong attachments to their mothers - it is an attachment I had no knowledge of until I saw my three sons-in-law and their [to me] odd responses when in the company of their mother's - something was going on at a very personal level - of course I would notice this, my mother dying of cancer in 1942 when I was nine and my sister seven - my father could not come home from Africa for the funeral - my sister and I were split up - never hugged after that, not like all those sons-in-laws who had their mothers - so it is with a terrible feeling of sympathy that I view Mother's Boys, those especially who suffer the inevitable assumptions that the flip side of the title connotes but I wonder if the reader 'gets' it - that when this man was denied mothering, all nubile women became fair game - still are and a great compensation, yet bad of me to admit it - tho they don't equate
