Whitechapel, Cockfosters & Finsbury Park

Hi folks - it's fascinating that there is so much tube lore!
Tips:
Whitechapel - do NOT change here - for instance it is posible for the westbound train going to Kings Cross to leave from the platforms on EITHER side of the bridge - and no, there are none of the nice LCD indicator signs to tell you which is which. This station is ALMOST as bad as Edgware Rd which has already been mentioned and should be avoided at ALL COSTS!
Cockfosters - if you really need to get away from it all alight at Cockfosters at the northern end of the Piccadilly line, stroke the lovely station cat if he is around, and exit the station turning right and walk up the road for a few hundred yards. You have now reached Trent Valley country park which consists of a few HUNDRED acres of paths, forest, woodland, meadows, lakes etc etc. It really is beautiful, even in the winter, and I have taken countless packed lunches up there - check out the "you are here" maps every time you see one because it is possible to get completely lost and I remember one autumn afternoon walking around for 5 hours and not seeing another human being - the trick to this is if you do get irrevocably lost remember that the tube runs alongside the park from Oakwood to Cockfosters - when you can hear the tube you're within reach of civilisation again! It also plays host to the main campus of Middlesex University...
Finsbury Park - if you're heading south on the Piccadily line from Zone 3, 4 etc and planning to go shopping in Oxford St then change at Finsbury Park onto the Victoria line (just cross to the other platform) - you will be at Oxford Circus MUCH more quickly than if you sit through all those interminable stations until eventually reaching Leicester Square on the 'Dilly line.
More tips when I can think of them
