>>The round brown nutty fruit of the oak is called a conker<<
No it ain't.
Conkers are from the Horse Chestnut tree.
It was pointed out earlier, you get *acorns* from Oak trees.

I love autumn. Reds, golds, browns, all flowing together in a wonderous harmony of colours, adn the gentle swish of the leaves as they fall, the very satesfying crunch of leaves under foot.... Autumn is my favourite, not too hot or cold, and I was born on the first dayu of it over here in NZ. Summer is second because everyone, I believe I can claim, remembers very blue, clear summer days when they were young that streatched into forever and, as it was holidays, made you feel warm and relaxed, content with life, especially if your friends were there too. Best if by the water. perhaps? Why not , , , and . A sun for summer, a red/gold leaf for autumn, a snowflake for winter, and a flower for summer. We need a one as well.

and autumn has newly-mown and not yet plowed fields - that's one of the best bits, coupled with cool, crisp weather, of course.

I love the smell of new-mown grass and concrete wet by rain drying in the sun. Summer or autumn are the best time for those i reckon, smell the best then.

By the way, I meant 'yes....' as in I agree, not as in I disagree or am unsure.

I mentioned weather smileys a year or so back. This is a British site after all. I now have a set of my own though.

SEF Posted Oct 13, 2005
I designed my own. Round here in most threads they could only be used as links. Elsewhere they can be included as images. This particular set was designed for a site with smaller size requirements though to fit in line with their text (13px instead of 16px).
