Hi Andy
No screensaver at all? Hmmmmmmm
I am going to give that a try, with this unit I downloaded this morning. My normal crunching time is 28 hours, so I'll report back & let you know, OK?
Eat Grimsby Fish! Preferably in Cleethorpes!

There was some good information here - I was already doing a lot of it through trial and error. Maybe you could go to the main h2g2 SETI page and leave this as a link there. I'm sure others could find this information helpful.

OK. Could you also let me know the spec of your PC and what OS you are using? I thought it might be nice to add the data to the article (with a credit to you, of course!).
What is it aboot fish anyway?

Um....I am not sure if you are talking to me or Jimi X.
I don't know if Jimi knows anything about fish, so I'll assume that was directed at me.
When I first found h2g2, I was intrigued by the little fish sign > then <> =
{I know.....little things....}
and as I know that Grimsby fish is the best tasting in the whole of the planet, I thought of adding it as a signature....but that was before I became a Guardian Angel, and a Patron Saint as well.
So, sometimes I remember to type it, sometimes I don't.
*******
Silly me.....When you said "no screensaver" I thought you meant no screensaver. So I took off "seti@home" on my screensaver and left it "no screensaver" and turned the monitor off. Went out. Came back. Checked seti. It hadn't crunched anything at all, never mind speeded up. I wonder what I did wrong?

I think it's called a Babel fish.
What you need to do aboot the screensaver;
First, make sure that the Seti client is running minimized.
Then switch off the screensaver.
Away you go!
When you return to the PC, exit the Seti client, if you so wish.
