Sleeping bags

There are mainly two types available, The first is lined with goose feathers and provides excellent warmth and comfort (have you ever seen a cold goose). The main drawback of this type is that if you are daft enough to get it wet it will take absolutely ages to dry out again.
Slightly heavier than goose down, are synthetic fibre lined bags, these are cheaper to buy but can be bulkier to pack, these bags dry out much more quickly when wet.
Another important feature is a zip on the side for easy access, although on some high quality bags this is absent in order to increase insulation.
It is important to note that it is possible to spend an absolute fortune on a sleeping bag, but it is also possible to spend peanuts. A good guideline when purchasing is to look at the temperature rating on the label, if it says it will keep you warm at minus ten degrees, then its a pretty safe bet for the average camper, if it says nothing then prepare for a long cold night.
