This location may rate a mention in the Guide. I suspect it is held within a temporal dislocation, or time-warp. There is some supporting evidence, as follows:

The cash register in one of the pubs occasionally registers in pre-decimal currency. Indeed, it is doubtful if decimalisation has ever been formally accepted by the inhabitants.

Some citizens are currently engaged in a project to re-build the pier (most of it blown up in WW2, the rest blown down in storms). The object of this re-building exercise seems to be to get the paddle steamers to return to their habitat (last sighting was 1912).

Entirely harmless.

Update - the Pier is now complete and open! There are, happily, no Space Invader machines; they paid someone to design some "new" amusements in Heath-Robinson style.

The best of these, if memory serves me correct, is a 20p six-armed fondling machine.

Whether such indecency will survive in such a genteel little bubble, only time will tell.

There was a girl like that used to drink in the Nelson ... except she didn't charge 20p ... smiley - winkeye
