Looking Through The Window
Looking through the window and what can I see?
Lots and lots of people pass, none look to me.
There's a world out there, it's big and round and blue,
But there's no one to tell me what I'm to do.
Looking out the window birds and bees in the sun,
Children running outdoors having lots of fun.
The clouds don't roll over, the rain it won't fall
It seems there will be no end to children's fun at all.
Looking out the window at a starlit night,
Looking at the moon lost now in delight.
Watching as time passes, as shadows sweep by me
Wondering what the world holds out there to see.
I step into my doorway, I look out to the world
Watching as those clouds break, coming all unfurled.
Drenched now in raindrops, soaked down to the skin,
The wind whips past my sides and I step back in.
I look back through my window as the sun peeps out
And those children come back running round about.
I wonder what I did wrong, why on this day
Would I get wet to the skin before the children play?
I sit there, keep watching, I can't bear to go out and see
Just in case the weather's saving all the rain for me.
So the sun shines brightly and the birds do sing,
The bees do fly from flower to flower till the evening darkness bring.
