I would really like to become a guru. I feel I know the site farely well. I am friendly and outgoing I am sure I would make an excellent Guru

Well done on signing up!
This is completely unofficial, so *please* don't feel that becoming a Guru depends on your answers to these. If you don't mind, I'm going to ask you a few sample questions. If you come back with the answer, great. If not, that's OK - I'll reply with some links so that you can find the answer and then you'll know!
So, here goes:
'Hi, I've recently come back to h2g2 but can't get back into my old account - I've forgotten the password. Can you help me?'

Since when's there been a test (official or otherwise) when someone signs up to be a guru? You're just being cruel. Anyway, that's the kind of question you will only learn the answer to when you see someone else answer it, non-gurus don't hang around the feedback threads much, so new gurus will have to wait a while to find out these kind of answers. But on the other hand, if you *do* know the answer, well done!

That's an interesting idea Whoami?, why don't you bring it up on the Gurus home page as a suggestion so that we can all discuss it?
Hi ExtremelyDangerousTeenageBoy,
Thanks for volunteering. I normally recruit on a Thursday afternoon, but I like to give Researchers a chance to visit U295 to see how it works, to watch the other Gurus in action, and to try to answer a few questions. So in this case I'll be back on Thursday of next week.
Watch this space.

Good answer, but chances are someone will have to have done that to ask the question. They could try using the 'Forgotten Password?' link on the <./>Login</.> page - and if that still doesn't help, they can email [email protected] with as many details as they can remember...
Still, good logical answer!

Hi ExtremelyDangerousTeenageBoy,
Are you still interested? I see that you've had a go at answering Whoami?'s question, but I can't seem to find anything else that you've answered.
Have you had a good look round the FAQs?
guru
ExtremelyDangerousTeenageBoy Posted Mar 7, 2003
Yes I really am still interested. IF i go on the FAQ page would I be able to answer the questions

Mina Posted Mar 7, 2003
If you read the FAQ, it wil give you an idea of where to go to find the answers when they are asked. I still have to check them, and I've been here over three years.
Don't forget to keep an eye on U295 (it might be empty at the moment), and answer some questions there. The quickest way to a badge is to get stuck in and help out the other Researchers.

What Mina so ably said is true. After all, she's the one that does the recruiting, so it'd be silly if she was lying!
