A Conversation for Volunteer to be a Guru
Hmmmm... So you wanna be a Guru eh?

Welllly welllly wellllly.
What have we here?
So, you wanna be a guru? eh, punk.
Looking at other's posts I can't really se how anyone is supposed to pick between 50 different statements along the lines of "I want to be a guru!". It doesn't work like that.
Secondly I'd like to state the concept and nature of the true Guru:
1. The Guru should be shrotriya, i.e. well versed in scriptures. If he is to teach religion, he must have a proper grasp of the subject as expounded in genuine ancient texts and books. This does not mean mere book knowledge, but the Guru must have imbibed the Truths of the scriptures in his daily life.
2. The second qualification of the Guru is more important than the first, and that is: The Guru must be a Brahma-Jnani. He must be a realized soul.
3. The third qualification of the Guru is that he should be 'akamahata', not smitten by desires selfishness. His character must be spotless and clean. He should have such virtues as compassion, love, generosity, and altruism.
4. The fourth qualification is linked with the third. The Guru should be avrijina, stainless pure. He should be simple and guileless. He should have totally overcome lust for flesh and gold.
I'm not setting myself up as a item of perfection, because, of course, I only belive all that if I'm a Hindu! Which I am not. However you can see the parrallels between this and what a guru should be.
Maybe your only a real Guru if you never want to be one in the first place?
Of course, those sorts of people are never going to post asking to become one, so you have to take what you get.
Maybe I should be a Guru of Guruism? :P
Anyway, these are the things I can do:
Web Formats and Programming ::-
(ie: HTML, XML, WML, Java(+Script), PHP, ASP, PERL, TCP/IP, C(++), BASIC, FORTRAN, PYTHON)
Protocols :--
(ie: HTTP, FTP, TCP/IP, WAP, IRC)
Formats (DB or otherwise) ::-
(ie: SQL, XML, mySQL).
I have a reasonable knowlege of Windows (duh), Linux, UNIX (UNICS), Macintosh, (Open)BSD and other platforms/systems. I have a working knowlege of Windows and Linux and a rather more political grounding in others.
I'm also interested in Philosphical discussions, Eastern languages and Confucian history. (I'm not claiming to be well versed in any. I'm NOT a Guru.)
Do with me what you will.

I'm out of the office for another week, but I'll be recruiting again when I get back.
Have a good look around the site, and see what the other Gurus do. An h2g2 Guru is a Researcher that knows the site very well.

Hi Tamago, are you still interested in being an h2g2 Guru?
...
Tamago Posted Jun 24, 2002
I can't sound *too* entusiastic, or I go against my point. :P
Yeah... I'm interested!!
I guess...
