A Conversation for The Sub-editors' Home Page

My entries frequently use tables, which I used to find hard to edit. This must be even more of a problem for a subeditor landed with any of them that get picked.
I have now discovered GuideML comments, which make my task much easier. But these are not in the help pages (so far as I am aware), and definitely not a part of 'approved' GuideML.
My question is, would you prefer to receive entries with comments, even if you then have to remove them, or entries with no comments at all? If you prefer entries with comments, and especially if you do not have to remove them, could you also consider getting them added to the help pages?

By 'comments', am I correct in thinking you mean the <!-- ... --> tag?
We Subs have, in the past, been encouraged to use comments when returning entries to TPTB. So they aren't a big problem. I certainly think they're a good way of getting across to a Sub your intentions, or clarifying a point that a Sub, with all their knowledge and experience (), would be able to re-express in a better way. Also, you can use them for jokes and rude comments, like me.
I suspect the only reason that they don't fall under 'approved' GuideML is because they're not visible in the finished Entry.

And because 'approved' GuideML only covers tags. Comments are a basic part of XML/SGML.

So which are you, B? A joke, or a rude comment?

Hello everyone. Happy New Year.
The gist of replies so far is that comments are not objected to. Does this mean that complex tables are not hard to edit, or rather that you just leave well alone. I was definitely trying to see if they help editors, so that you prefer them included. So far, the answer seems (surprisingly) to be NO.
Archangel Dr Justin, some entries you have edited have gained diagrams, which would be most useful in some of mine. For example, Interpolation by Intuition (presently with editors) has several tables better be replaced with graphs. Do you accept commisions for such things, and how does one make the requests in an approved way?

Ummm... There isn't really a 'proper' way of requesting a diagram, to be honest. Most often it's something that gets picked up in Peer Review, before the entry is picked. The Scout can than suggest it to the Editors when they pick the entry. It doesn't look like that's happened in your case (although I don't know if the Scout said anything when picking your entry).
I'd suggest talking to Jimster (U292), as he runs the Community Artists (who would be responsible for producing any diagrams).
