I am possibly going to attempt my first entry and would like help to plan it,can anyone point me in the right direction.

Hi Ian,
perhaps you could have a look at the <./>Contribute</.> page (it's also available by clicking on the 'Contribute' link on every h2g2 page). There's everything and more you need to know on how to create an entry and on how to write. Most helpful, in my opinion, is the 'Learning to write on h2g2' (<./>Writing-Beginners</.>
page.
