A Conversation for The Wessex Researchers Group
Meg Started conversation Jul 8, 2003
Hi there. I'm located in Wessex. Don't want to give location due to working in the NHS, confidentiality rules and all that. Anyway nice to meet you all. I'm only on line about once a week if I'm not busy at work, so you'll hear from me occasionally.

Nice to meet you. I visited your space I'm not entirely computer literate yet but learn fast. I grew up in Southampton. There are worse places but I wouldn't fancy moving back there. My niece is at college in Southampton and is hoping to study law at uni next year I don't think she'll stay in Southampton. Is it a good place to study?

I studied first year law at Southampton University, learning all about Section 16(2)(a) of the 1968 Theft Act before transferring to History. I enjoyed Uni there as it had a great Uni cinema - a term's worth of films for only £10! I definately had a good time there, but then it's not really the place but the people that make a Uni experience good.
But then as I'm from the Isle of Wight, Southampton had the advantage of being near when I wanted to go home, and still on the Mainland so automatically infinitly seperated from the Island.

Well, Mad Meg, I've added you to the list of researchers from teh area under Southampton as you grew up there, even if it isn't where you are at the moment.
I imagine that Southampton's changed quite a lot - it has since I first arrived with the West Quay shopping centre etc.

Next year will be my 20th as a nurse, but to be fair I only worked in the NHS for 10 of those. Are you still working now?
Coniraya Posted Nov 17, 2003
No, I got fed up with unsupportive managers and increasing workload for a static salary, so got out.
But a good friend of mine is still loving life as a DN and I suppose it isn't entirely impossible that I might get sucked back in one day!
Bluebottle Posted Nov 20, 2003
Nursing was never a job that appealed to me - I've never done it but my Dad gave it a try for a couple of years...
Coniraya Posted Nov 20, 2003
I should have known better as I was the third generation to go into it!
