Who stole "How Do I...?"
Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.) Started conversation Aug 20, 2000
On two separate occasions in the past few days I've tried to access to How Do I...? section at http://www.h2g2.com/HowDoI and received a 404 error. Has it been stolen? Or kidnapped?

Yes, it's working at the moment... it keeps disappearing and reappearing.

have you tried it with other named pages? I keep getting 404s from the site but thats my computer being meany; I'm surprised it hasn't degenerated into 403s yet...

Everything else is fine, just How Do I.

Are you using Internet Explorer?
The reason I ask is that IE will display a page with a 404 message at the bottom each time it can't find a page. This includes instances where your internet connection is extremely slow or you have suddenly been disconnected between pages. Other browsers will typically give a pop-up warning message that doesn't look like a 404 in these instances.

Predictably enough, it hasn't happened since I mentioned it. Fingers crossed...

lol
Well, it was worth a try. If you're using Netscape, I have no idea what the problem is. I can verify that I've gone to the How Do I? forum using Netscape several times over the past few days with no trouble. That doesn't help you much, though.

Probably. It's working fine now (although if anything is going to break it, it's the words "it's working now")...
