Not exactly a bug, but for some days now http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/blobs/dontpanic_banner.gif has failed to appear, and trying to view it by URL typing gives 'Firefox can't find the file at /h2g2/blobs/dontpanic_banner.gif.' Other images on h2g2 display fine, so I don't think it's a browser problem.

Hmm, from the link you provided, I can clearly see it in both Internet Explorer and Firefox.
That's of no help to you, but it does look as if it's displaying correctly.

It's an animated GIF. Could you have any settings at your end which protect you from evil advertising banners?

No, and it's started working again... just now, after I signed in. I tried downloading the file in the DownThemAll extension, which worked; then I signed out to find everything working as normal.
I have no idea what the problem was.
