When the page loads, there is a broken image link at the top of the page, and no space to write a journal entry. Just the links for Your discussions and Your nickname: etc. Change this.

Has the journal feature been disabled?

n.b. I am using Firefox 1.5.0.3 and Windows XP.

You are really a member of the Radio 3 Message Board ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbradio3/ ) - because that's where you first registered your BBC dna account. So you are not allowed to use your journal, because the BBC staff decided to disable that feature for MB users. If you really want a journal you could: (a) start one elsewhere (there are lots of blog sites); (b) start a new account on h2g2; (c) move your existing account to h2g2.

As far as I've been told, c is usually not possible and not to be encouraged.

(c) should be possible (I could make the link for it) and it does seem that this user does already use h2g2 quite a bit anyway.
