On entering an article number in the address bar and being told that the article doesn't exist a list of possible alternatives is shown, this list has multiple listings for the some articles (sometimes lots, sometimes a couple)

For example;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A4121

I picked this not for the number of repeated articles but more for the irony that the first one listed, titled "The truth about 'truth' and 'Truth'" is hidden

...also,

the technique of mistyping the article number can result in the original title of a hidden article being revealed, even though it is hidden on the article page itself. This may, in some cases be undesirable.

in some cases, not for example when used to show that the "Old Writing Team"'s firts article was called "Ostriches" but maybe in the case where someone many moonss ago described Hotmail in a not very flattering way.

It's just another little loophole that no-one else would ever even notice. but if things are hiden to protect people from seeing contravercial material then it should be closed.

btw

to see the "Old Writing Team"'s first article hidden goto http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A207 to reveal the title just goto http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A20 by removing the last digit h2g2 does the work for you, some articles require a little more work.

Post number four in this thread should not have been moderated as it does not break any of the house rules.
I was trying to point Jim Lynn in the direction of the problem. The post (number 4) was almost the same as the ones above but simply gave an explicit example of the problem. By reading the previous posts and doing a little work you can see exactly what was in the post 4.
Previous bugs were reported elsewhere, Jim Lynn requested that people post any future similar problems here. If you are going to moderate my posts when I'm trying to help (when the moderation achieves nothing) then there really doesn't seem to be any incentive for me to post to the bug report page.

bgs (no longer reporting any bugs, due to unnecessary moderation)

I've unhidden the post - it was referred for a decision, rather than permanently moderated. I've decided there was no problem.

And thanks for pointing the bug out.

some of the hidden articles have titles that break the rules here. it's a bug as those titles should be hidden too.
