A Conversation for Notes from Around the Sundial
The Moon.
STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Started conversation Jul 31, 2008
I don't have a telescope but remember about 6 months to a year ago the moon being low in the sky on a clear night and through 10x50 binoculars getting an absolutley stunning view of the moon. It was a glowing silver and remember others commenting how great it looked. What was really good was the clear view of craters and details and even things that looked like dried up rivers, which they weren't of course. However nothing lasts and the next night it was cloudy and misty and I couldn't even see the moon. It was great to see something so fascinating and far away so clearly!

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Aug 4, 2008
The moon looks best just where the line dividing day from night is. This moves all the time, so there's always something to look at on the moon through binoculars of a telescope!
