A Conversation for Friends of Celery-Webjello 2000

Why should anyone consider two charectors devised as being nomme the plumes?
Surley that hardly leads to representative democracy.

Good question, D.D.
'noms de plume' are authors' pseudonyms or pen names -- in other words, names that an individual goes by rather than their true name.
Examples of noms de plume, therefore, would be Demon Drawer... or Andromeda.
On the other hand, The Celery and Dolores A. Webjello go by their real names at all times, feeling no need to use a nom de plume.
The Celery has indicated in the past that he finds it somewhat amusing that researchers feel the need to use madeup names, but he understands it and has no problem with it.
So don't worry about it DD. The fact that you use a nom de plume is not necessarily a barrier to your running for Prez.

A vote for The Celery is a vote for Good Manners!

Good question, Løøny.
Dolores has the ability to wobble or not as she wishes, or even to change shape to some extent, but when she's posing for publicity photos or making public appearances, she tries to remain still for the photographers.
At home she like to be a little more informal. If you visit her home page: http://www.h2g2.com/A384266
you'll notice that she feels a lot more comfortable now and enjoys the ocassional gentle wobble.

Excellent news Redbeard.
I shakily visited, my not-so-nimble, trembling, fingers quivering. I left suffering from aqueous humour.

Demon Drawer Posted Jul 5, 2000
If I may clarify my question.
Joanna is not running as Andromeda, nor I as Berilia. We are both running as our main h2g2 persona's and as anyone who has meet us will vouch these persona's are very much our real charectors. My question should really have been, 'Why create a new persona merely for the purpose of running in the election?'
Answer's please on a postcard.
*DD runs a quick eye over this post for spelling mistakes*
BTW Dyslexia is not a hinderance to an effective Presidency.

You're right, DD, dyslexia is not a hindrance to running for President, but everything's fair game in politics!
*carefully restrains himself from pointing out five spelling errors*
The thing is, we aren't creating a new persona merely for running in the election. I'm not running for office as The Celery, nor is Lil, GL, Affy, Odra, or any of the other researchers on the campaign committee. I have no desire to be President.
Additionally, both The Celery and Dolores existed as h2g2 creations before the idea of them running for office. They weren't created for that purpose. (whether they first brought up the idea to us or we first suggested to them that they might run is a little vague)
Since this is an election for the Virtual Prez of h2g2, why not have a virtual creation of h2g2 as a candidate? They are important contributors to h2g2 in their own way. The Aroma Café, for example, is a much richer place with Ook there. In some ways, Ook is MORE real than many of the patrons. You can be in the middle of a conversation with a researcher patron and suddenly realize that they're not there any longer. Not true with Ook. Vlad was responsible for willing Ook into existence and we tend to think of Ook as belonging to Vlad in a way, but Vlad is not Ook. Ook is Ook.
We know we're fighting an uphill battle, particularly since h2g2 creations are not allowed to vote!
DD... I hope you know that I personally think you and Joanna are great.

(Oh I know. Must of the candidates are actually friends of mine or Joanna's.)
However I ma honour bound to defend our good name whenever possible.
