That thing at the bottom of this page - it just remains grey and I get a message at the bottom of my browser saying "load: class webeq.Main not found". What's it supposed to do?

What browser/version?

Its an equation formatter that should be used in the pre-subbed articles. It accepts laTeX and renders it. In the subbed version then there will be GIFs for the articles.

Clearly I'm using an obscure browser that nobody's heard of:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.00.2920.0000 (this is the one that ships with Windows 2000 I believe; I'm running Windows 2000 Advanced Server).

Probably Win2k's VM isn't very good. Check for a patch at MS?

Now that I've looked into it in a little more detail, I don't think that's the problem: trying just to download the webeq.zip package that the application is in, I get a network error. Trying to ping www.webeq.com (the web site containing the Java code) I get:

Reply from 209.46.63.220: Destination host unreachable.

If it's working for you I can only assume that it's already in your web browser's cache...

it doesn't work for me either...

...you sure you're gonna be allowed gifs in your submitted entries?

Umm... I think we have to use LaTeX to describe the equations and then they will convert them into gifs in the Towers. That is what Mark thought would be best.
