Talking Point - School's Out For Summer
Created | Updated Jul 11, 2008

School's out for summer... is there any feeling better than that? Well, IS there? Coming home ravenous after a night out and
finding a warm dinner left out for you by your flatmates? Finally deciding to buy that dress/suit and discovering that it's
now drastically reduced on sale? Thinking you've done terribly in a job interview and then finding out you've got the
job after all?
We want to know what feelings come close to or surpass that delicious sensation of running out of class, book-bag and PE kit
flying behind you, with weeks and weeks of summer holidays stretching out ahead. Winning a
competition? Finding an old friend on Facebook? For this week's talking point, we're asking:
Do you remember how you felt at the start of those long summer holidays?
Did the holidays usually live up to your expectations?
Which were the best holidays - the ones when you were a child, or when you were older and had finished exams?
Did you ever have a really rubbish summer holiday?
Is it possible to look forward to school restarting in the autumn?
And, while we're at it - anyone out there think school is a really bad idea? Is home schooling a good alternative?
What are the best things about summer that you miss, cooped up in a classroom?
And what about the worst bits of summer?
