Treasure Island

Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson was first published in... and was the first book by this adaptable Victorian author, who alongside his classics of adventure fiction, such as Kidnapped and Treasure Island, also went on to write The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde, a classic supernatural thriller and Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes, a well regarded travelogue.

Whereas other pirate stories have lain forgotten as pulp fiction, Treasure Island has survived. Despite its complete lack of deeper themes and messages, the book is more than redeemed by its memorably larger than life characters, its fast paced and enthralling plot and the way the accents and dialect of its characters is conveyed so expertly you can almost hear them talking as you read.
