Intelligence?
It was in 1905 that the Benet-Simon IQ test was first made available. That's enough said about that.
It was also in 1905 that the Britich government decided (based on a German spy scare started by a novel) that
it needed a professional spy organization to help prevent
it's potential or possible enemies from learning more
about Britain's military potential than then
the government.
It took four years of interservice squabbling before it took operational
form as two new squabbling services called MI5 and MI6.
