hello there
some languages that we have knowledge are vanishing, because english is becoming universal, and so noone have to use languages that have become exctint, but i think thats wrong, because, some people in the south africa still speaking their own language but a littyle communuty of 200000, so we have to increase that number, we still can save the languages

Hi 180703. It looks like Icarus who wrote this article hasn't been back since h2g2 moved to the beeb or hasn't updated this article to GuideML. So he may not be back to respond to you.
However I agree with you that we need to preserve the dying languages. Why should English, Spanish (in Latin America) or any other language in a different regional zone completely obliterate some of the languages nad culture that have existed for milleniae before the invention of TV, Satalites and the internet which have made us all into English speakers. Hope you and your community pass on your language to the generations to come so that your language can contiue to exist and not end up with one native speaker who is hoping someone is going to carry it on after thier death, as has hapened to one or two other languages in the last century.

many languages have been exctint for long time, many people for exemple in papua new guiena they speak over 800 languages, and its one of the 6000 languages spoken in the world, well of course they also speak english as the official language and many others.
my interest for endangered language is a lot, but i have to find further resouces about languages, i have been rying to look for everythhing about native languages and they heritage, theyre culture
