What if they call an election and nobody comes?

OK. Suspend belief for a moment, and just imagine the following. Tony B calls the election for May 5th, dissolves parliament, all the parties do that knees bent running about the country thing and then........on the day............NOBODY votes.

What would the legal position be then? Would Labour stay on in power?
Would they have to do it all again? What would happen if there was only 1 vote from Mrs Miggins in Southend - would her vote then legally elect the next government?

Always wanted to know ..................

*Points to the General Election forum which ideally this should be in*

There would have to be another general election, no matter what party she belongs to it is only one seat and that's not enough to get her party "First Past the Post". Ergo we go through the farce again and again until we do.

Unfortunately since non-voters and spoiled papers don't count, there's very little chance of this happening.
