I really liked your poem. But where I live, we have smart hedgehogs that know that they should never cross a busy highway. We have problems with cows, though.
Last year, for a gifted trip, we were in a van going to a city three hours away, and it was about 4:30 in the morning. Up ahead of us, we see a pickup swerve for no apparent reason. Apparantly, there WAS an apparent reason, and that apparant reason was that there were two black cows dead on the road. We had no time to react so we hit them...and were sent flying into the air! We landed on our wheels too, which was pretty cool! All the guys were like, "Whoooooo!" And one of the teachers up front spilt her coffee which was pretty funny. All the adults were really serious about, though.
Anyway, the point is, if you put "cow" in place of "hedgehog", your poem would work for Kansas!
