River

I was flowing through my life
Running easy
Going my own way
As it pleased me
I was thundering round the bends
Wearing away the walls
Squeezing through the gaps
Cascading over the falls
When obstacles barred my way
I flowed round them
When troubles flooded in
I absorbed them
But that was long ago
In my spring time
Sparkling through the hills
In the sun shine
Now I’ve reached the delta
And the wetlands
My identity seeps away
Into the tidal strands
