I discovered just yesterday that the caterpillar of the Citrus swallowtail is called an "Orange dog". They aren't orange, but they do destroy the orange trees with their ravenous appetites. Obviously the fruit growers take steps to eradicate the problem, as we watch out for slugs & snails on our plants, but it seems 
to me that they are killing potential butterflies.
