Just what we have always needed! smiley - ok

One little typo I have noticed:

Good entry. Just a couple of grammaticals:

<>
the actual form of the object *is* irrelevant

<>
in itself or in *its* potential

Cheers chaps, I'll correct those errors when I am a sober person.

h5ringer, dig in, I know you've spotted more problems: correct my grammatically wrong ass, you would be doing me a favour. I need the help. smiley - smileysmiley - cheers

ok a_a_e, here's what I'd like to see corrected:

The way you've worded the last sentence of the first paragraph leaves an ambiguity. Was the highly dubious exchange between the two Scots what Hitchcock claimed to have overheard, or was it an alternative source of the name? If, as I suspect, the former is what you meant, then I would sugest you rearranged that first paragraph as follows:
smiley - biro<>

Note I've r-arranged the order of words in the first sentence to improve flow, and added a semi-colon to break it rather better than a comma does. An added semi-colon in the second sentence serves a similar function.

In the first two sentences of the 'So, what actually is it?' section, the punctuation can be improved thus:
smiley - biro<>
Note I've included two of the fixes from my previous post.

smiley - biroMalteese Falcon >> Maltese Falcon
smiley - biro Pulp fiction >> Pulp Fiction (capital F)
smiley - biroPut a full-stop after 'Repo Man' and capitalise the following word, 'What'
smiley - biro infact >> in fact
smiley - biroYour blockquote should be in italics , and without the double quotes.
smiley - biro<> comma added
smiley - biro<> Film >> film (lowercase F)
smiley - biro The film titles: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Citizen Kane, Jewel of the Nile and Twelve Monkeys, should be either in italics or in single quotes - I can't remember which. Galaxy Babe will tell us which is correct.
smiley - biroFootnote 2 - change the colon to a full-stop and capitalise 'How'

A well-chosen topic for an entry. Well done smiley - ok

OK I found the pirate's loose false eye in Pirates of the Caribbean, and Nora Batty's wrinkled stockings. This is so much fun, especially when you enlighten people who otherwise don't have a clue. I am sure the Macguffin will be one of the buzzwords of 2009.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
