I read this book a couple of years ago, and I'd have to say it was one of the most striking, even shocking, books I've read. The reader should be warned that the book contains some strong scenes and ghoulish images which will stay with you. It's not an easy book to read, and sometimes the actual writing does not flow as well as you might hope, possibly as a result of the central conceit in the structure. Some readers will loathe it. But if you are willing to put in the effort, and you want to read something unlike any other book you've ever read, give it a try. At least you won't be neutral about it.
