Cool entry, I spend most days having to look at peoples feet. Or the gaps where they used to be. And I feel information like this should be passed onto all young women from about age ten, hopefully that would lessen my workload!
The only thing I would say is shoe inserts (orthoses/orthotics) won't have any effect on shin splints, no matter what podiatrists say. They can only offload the planter aspect or correct biomechanical problems they won't have any effect on torn muscles. Although you could add that high heels do tend to caues/exsacerbate metatarsalgia (pain under the ball of your foot). Although in the last couple of years or so we've seen things like 'party feet' come out which are just little silicon or urethane pads worn to protect against this.
Once again though cool entry, it should definatly be on the school curriculum! smiley - biggrin
